Summer Vacay: Tips for Visiting New Orleans
I am no stranger to New Orleans. I recently spent three glorious days and this was my fifth visit. New Orleans is a city with a long and fascinating history, music running through its veins and some of the best food on the planet. There is a general laid back, easy-going vibe with sprinkles of southern hospitality. So, what’s not to like? If you are planning to visit New Orleans, here are a few tips.
Tips for Visiting NOLA
- Many of NOLA’s best attractions and activities are within walking distance of each other. But be prepared to take cabs and public transport to make the most of your time here.
- Lots of locals work in the service industry and rely very much on your gratuity to earn a living wage. Be kind and aware when you tip.
- If you hope to do it up at one of the city’s notable restaurants, plan ahead and make a reservation.
- For the most part, New Orleans is a very casual, come-as-you-are kind of place, but a number of the city’s most celebrated restaurants may require you to step it up a notch. Check before heading out.
After hearing so much about Deanie’s, I had to give it a try! I arrived shortly after it opened and the seating was quick and the wait staff was very attentive. Great food and huge portions!
I wouldn’t call myself a gambler but I will play the penny slot machine from time to time. LOL! I like the fact that this casino is smoke free. The smoke free environment made my stop in much more manageable. A nice hangout spot if you want to simply pass time.
