As the temperatures are rising up and the summer is coming close, it is time to make a big transition when it comes to dressing for work. Suddenly we need to forget about the comfy sweaters, cardigans, coats and boots and start dressing looser but still appropriate for work. This can be really tricky, especially if you are working in a non-casual environment, but if you start combining your summer clothes smartly and creatively, you can look professional and still feel comfortable during the high-temperature season.
Keep it simple
Start wearing simple clothes without aggressive prints and choose more pastel colors. This way not only that you will look more professional, you will have a wider choice of pieces for making combinations.
Wear summer jackets and blazers
They always come in handy if you have many meetings with the high management and with clients, because they give you a more professional look. You can buy few of them in different colors and combine them with pencil skirts and dress pants.
Floral and striped shirts
Floral prints are always reminding us of summer, that’s why you shouldn’t avoid them completely. But if you choose to wear a striped shirt or a shirt with a floral print, try to keep the rest of your outfit neutral.
Don’t be too conservative
Even if you are trying to look professional, don’t be too conservative. Try to infuse some summertime inspiration in your style, by wearing some sleeveless shirts, loose blouses or something else that will represent your personality.
You can still dress in layers
Just pick some lightweight fabrics and you can still dress in layers. This comes in handy if you work in an office and the AC is working constantly.
Choose your shoes wisely
Depending on your work environment, try to complement your style with the right type of shoes. If you work in a more specific environment try to switch your sandals with a closed-toe pumps or flats.
Extra tips during this period
Because we are wearing more lightweight fabrics during the summer period, sometimes we can’t hide the shape of our body and that can be frustrating for many women. Stop following all the summer trends and try to find the right style for your body type. There is nothing more important than to feel comfortable at any point of the day, so don’t be blinded by all the trendsetters around you. Try to make changes for yourself and not for the rest of the people in your surroundings. If you want to feel more comfortable, start drinking a lot of water and include fruits and vegetables in your diet. For the ones that want to make a bigger step and start exercising during this period of the year, I highly recommend the 3 week diet plan. Your colleagues will notice the difference in your style right away, not because you dressed differently, but because everything will look way better on you.
